Harry J. Brown was a candidate for the Charlottesville City Council in the 1948 election.[1]Brown placed fourth in the June 8, 1948 election for three open seats on the city council. [1]
1948 Democratic Primary
Brown was a Democratic candidate for City Council in the April 6, 1948 primary. [2] At that time, he was a partner in a Cleaning and Dyeing business. [3] He received the third-highest vote total in the primary. [4] [5]
Business interest
Established in 1948, Brown's Dry Cleaners, Inc. eventually had four locations in central Virginia - two in Charlottesville and two in Albemarle County. The headquarter was located at 510 Preston Avenue.[6] Harry J. Brown Jr. was president of the company when it closed in December of 2018.
