Foxfield Racing Association

The Foxfield Racing Association is the corporation that owns and manages 179 acres of land in Albemarle County home to the Foxfield Races.[1]

The late Mariann S. de Tejeda bequeathed the property in her will to the association. She died in 1983 and the property transferred to the association in 1987.[1]

A group of Albemarle County residents is currently suing the association and its director, Thomas Dick, alleging there are plans to sell the property and discontinue the Foxfield races. The plaintiffs claim Tejeda's will created a trust for the perpetuation of the races and that they are among its beneficiaries. The association, however, says it is a nonstock corporate entity that controls its own property. The case is currently in Albemarle County Circuit Court.[2]
