Edward L. Smith served one term as the Samuel Miller representative on the Albemarle County Planning Commission. He was appointed to the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors in January 2010, replacing Eric Strucko in the Samuel Miller Magisterial District[1].

Smith graduated from the Stony Brook School in 1959, and spent time attending both Colorado State University and Virginia Tech. He has over 45 years of experience in the construction industry, and is currently[when?] Vice President of Operations for Parham Construction[2].
