Duane H. Zobrist is an attorney[1] and former member of the Albemarle County Planning Commission. He was named as the commission's chair on January 11, 2011 but withdrew an application to serve as another term as at-large representative. [2]
Biography
Zobrist moved to Albemarle in 2001 and lives in Crozet[3].
Planning Commission
Zobrist first served on the Commission as the representative from the White Hall Magisterial District, appointed in September 2006 by Supervisor David Wyant (R) to complete the term of Jo Higgins, who moved out of the county[3]. Zobrist served until December 31, 2007, the conclusion of Wyant's term on the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors.
Zobrist was again appointed to the Commission in January 2010, this time to fill the at-large seat[4].
In his capacity as chair, Zobrist was criticized by groups such as the Free Enterprise Forum for attempting to limit the scope of what citizens can say during a public hearing comment. [5]
In December 2012, he withdrew an application to serve an additional term as the commission's at-large representatives. [2]
