The Confederate Monument is located within the Confederate Cemetery section of the University of Virginia Cemetery. It is an eight foot bronze statue that rests on a twelve feet high gray granite pedestal. The statue depicts a young Confederate solider, holding his hat and with rifle at the rest position. Four encircling bronze tablets carry the names of the soldiers buried at the cemetery. Seventeen blank spaces represent unknown soldiers.
