The Blue Ridge Young Birders Club is a group of young birders from Charlottesville and surrounding areas between the ages 12-18, that share a passion for birds, birding, bird watching, bird photography, adventure and everything and anything else to do with birds and nature. The group takes regular field trips to local and distant places, half day, all day, and overnight trips. They have monthly meetings with speakers covering a wide range of interesting topics, and they participate in conservation projects such as monitoring a Bluebird Nest Box trail at Piedmont Virginia Community College, and participating in the National Nightjar Survey

The group was founded in the fall of 2012. Founding members were club vice-president Warwick Dutnell from North Garden, VA; Andrew Rapp from Keswick, VA; and Max Nootbaar from Charlottesville, VA; and club president Gabriel Mapel from New Hope, VA.
