- 1933 – Albemarle County Democratic Committee re-elects officers for the year [1]
- 1973 – A large fire breaks out in downtown Charlottesville destroying several businesses including McCrory's department store. Crews from surrounding community helped contain the blaze which burned for at least fours before being extinguished. [2] [3]
Births
- 1862 – Cain Hawkins is born into slavery in Millington to Frank and Elizabeth Wheeler Hawkins. A farmer and an active member of the Charlottesville Colored Agricultural and Industrial Fair Association, Hawkins had his portrait photograph prominently included within the Holsinger Studio Collection.
- 1971 – Michael Crafaik, local restaurateur who twice ran as a Republican candidate for Charlottesville City Council. [4]
