  • 1987 – Charlottesville School Board Chair Joseph Mooney presents a Future Needs Study to City Council at a work session. One idea was to "pair" the two middle schools by separating them into one for 5th and 6th grade and the other for 7th and 8th grade. Councilor Elisha G. Hall questioned whether 5th graders were mature enough to be taken from elementary schools. Mooney responded that's why they would only be in a school with 6th graders. [1]
  • 1999Value America hits $57 a share [2]
  • 2019 – The city announced the hiring of Tarron Richardson as City Manager, the city’s highest executive position.[3]
  • 2019 – City awards $1.08 million contract to Timmons Group for engineering of Emmet Street Streetscape [4]
