Events

  • The community of Covesville is officially founded with the establishment of the village's post office.
  • July 14 - The Charlottesville Convention was held to consider internal improvements in the state. Various suggestions were submitted to the legislature, all which supported further improvements on rivers and roads. Of note, the president of the convention was James Madison, President of the United States from 1809-1817 and then current rector of the University of Virginia.
