- November – Three men from Baltimore named Nathaniel Giles, John Lee Webster, and John Wilkinson buy ten acres of land in Albemarle County for the purpose of manufacturing iron. Their joint venture would eventually evolve into Albemarle Iron Works (the predecessor to the Albemarle Furnace Company).

- December 3 – John Harvie Sr. (b. 1706) was a prominent inhabitant of early Albemarle County. Following the death of Thomas Jefferson's father in 1757, Harvie became a guardian of the young man.
