  • January 1 – The British Empire (and colonies in North America) adopts today as the first day of the year as part of adoption of the Gregorian calendar, which is completed in September. Today is the first day of the New Year under the terms of last year's Calendar Act of the British Parliament.
  • September – The month of September 1752 had only 19 days, as the day count went straight from September 2 to September 14.
  • September 14 – The New Calendar was adopted by Great Britain and its colonies. To bring the calendar in line with the solar year, it added eleven days; the new year began in January rather than March. saw Britain and its colonies “lose” 11 days, as it switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar.
