- November 16 – Retiring police officer Harvey Finkel is honored by City Council with a proclamation [7]
- December 21 – Alcohol: City Council passes the Alcohol Beverage Production Zoning Amendment. Areas of the city previously zoned for microbreweries use were re-classified under the new title of "Micro-producer" with the added requirement of generating on-site retail sales.[8]
Deaths
- September 3 – Jason Lee “Jay” Shifflett was murdered in the early morning hours during a home invasion robbery at his residence in the 1500 block of Carlton Avenue.[9]
- September 3 – Virginius Thornton dies at the age of 81. A lifelong civil rights advocate, Thornton was the first Black student to matriculate into the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia and helped found the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), a principal channel of student commitment to the civil rights movement during the 1960's.
- September 18 – Renowned University of Virginia neurosurgeon Dr. John A. Jane Sr. died in Charlottesville at the age of 83.[10]
